Betty Brown Grand River Access
Photos Below

Betty Brown's property is located on what maybe one of the best gravel riffles found on the Grand River. It is located on the opposite side of the river of the UniRoyal property.  Betty, a business woman always looking for opportunity, decided she would provide private parking and access for steelhead fisherman to these waters for a minimal fee .  A permit to use her property along her river frontage is also required. Without a permit you are trespassing on private property.

The River Committee spoke with Betty and then took a proposal to the Officers and Board to fund a parking area and fisherman's path to the river. OCBS gains nothing by doing this project and pays all costs of the project.  The project was approved, the Officers and Board believes it will benefit all steelheaders by having this access option on the Grand River.

The target date for completion was late November 2005.   Jeff spearheaded the project and coordinated all resources needed from start to completion.  A Bull Dozer and crushed stone were delivered to the parking area and after several hours of pushing gravel and shaping the fisherman's path from the parking area to the river, the project was completed.

I spoke to Betty regarding this web page and found out that her "No Trespassing" signs have been ripped down and when she has confronted trespassers without the permit, she's given attitude by some. These are the guys that will ruin access for everyone.  Everyone needs to play by the land owner's rules or the rules will change and we all will LOOSE.  Without a permit you are trespassing on private property.  I'm sure it's best for all of us, if we want to use Betty's property purchase her $3.50  permit.

Here's the deal:

  1. All Fisherman need to purchase a annual permit to cross through Betty's property and the must sign a waver, cost is $3.00.
  2. Fisherman can purchase an annual parking permit for $25.00 and will get a key to the gate to gain access to the parking area.  You can park in the designated parking lot and gain river access by walking down the fisherman's path to the river or you can drive down to to river at your own risk.
  3. If you have any questions or want to purchase a parking permit or annual access permit contact the land owner:
